The practice

This concept uses code as a material: light, rhythm and scroll movement shape the experience. The names and project descriptions are illustrative, showing what an artist-led site could feel like.Thisconceptusescodeasamaterial:light,rhythmandscrollmovementshapetheexperience.Thenamesandprojectdescriptionsareillustrative,showingwhatanartist-ledsitecouldfeellike.

Studio principles

Four rules the studio runs on.Fourrulesthestudiorunson.

01

The code is the brush.

Tools should vanish. What remains on the wall is feeling, not technique.

02

Impermanence is the medium.

A work that can change is more alive than one fixed forever in glass.

03

Light belongs to no one.

I borrow it, shape it, and give it back. The viewer completes the piece.

About

A portfolio that gives the work room to breathe.Aportfoliothatgivestheworkroomtobreathe.

Afterlight is a fictional identity created to demonstrate an immersive artist portfolio. It is not presented as client work.Afterlightisafictionalidentitycreatedtodemonstrateanimmersiveartistportfolio.Itisnotpresentedasclientwork.

The experience keeps the source site's long-scroll composition and expressive motion, while showing how an artist's story, practice and work could sit together.Theexperiencekeepsthesourcesite'slong-scrollcompositionandexpressivemotion,whileshowinghowanartist'sstory,practiceandworkcouldsittogether.

Imagery and work names are illustrative. A real commission would be built around the artist's own work and permissions.Imageryandworknamesareillustrative.Arealcommissionwouldbebuiltaroundtheartist'sownworkandpermissions.

The studio process

From an idea to an experience.Fromanideatoanexperience.

  1. 01

    Observe

The research stage gathers the artist's actual work, audience and references before any visual direction is set.

  2. 02

    Compose

A visual system sets the typography, pacing, gallery hierarchy and motion language for the site.

  3. 03

    Generate

The design is built and tested across screen sizes, with interactions shaped around the artwork rather than added for spectacle.

  4. 04

    Exhibit

The finished website brings the selected work, narrative and interaction together in a clear gallery flow.
