Twelve things, cooked properly

A short menu that changes when the market changes. Pasta rolled each morning, one fish, one bird, and whatever the allotment sent us.

The kitchen

Twelve things, because thirty would be a lie

A long menu means a big freezer. Ours is short because everything on it was bought this week and is cooked to order by four people who can all see each other.

Sofia trained in Bologna and then spent six years in a pub kitchen in Somerset, which is why the pasta is serious and the gravy is better than it needs to be.

"The kind of place you end up going to on a Tuesday because you couldn't be bothered to cook, and then talk about all week." — Bristol Food Review

We hold a third of the room back for walk-ins every service, so if there is nothing online it is still worth putting your head round the door.

Do you cater for allergies?
Yes, and we would rather know when you book than when you sit down. The kitchen is small and handles nuts, gluten and shellfish, so we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot guarantee.
Can we book the whole room?
Thirty-four covers, Sunday evenings and Mondays only. Set menu, minimum spend, and we will cook whatever you actually want rather than making you choose from the card.
Is there a service charge?
A discretionary 12.5%, split evenly across the whole team including the kitchen, paid through payroll. Remove it if you would rather — nobody will be odd about it.
Do you take walk-ins?
Always. About a third of the room is held back every service, plus six seats at the counter that are never bookable.
